About

Chitkul is where the Hindustan-Tibet Road officially ends — the last permanently inhabited village before the India-China border, sitting at 3,450 m beside the Baspa River. The village is dramatically framed by the Kinnaur Kailash range and a long, hanging glacier. Its ancient Mathi temple, traditional flat-roofed Kinnauri homes, and the famous 'Hindustan ka Aakhri Dhaba' (India's last tea stall) have made Chitkul a bucket-list destination for adventurous travellers. The village is also one of the few places in India where you can genuinely feel that you've reached the edge of the subcontinent.
