Dharamshala

About

Dharamshala is a city of two identities: the lower town of offices and markets, and the upper town of McLeod Ganj — 'Little Lhasa' — the seat of the Tibetan government-in-exile and the residence of the 14th Dalai Lama. Set against the granite walls of the Dhauladhar Range, which rise precipitously from the Kangra Valley, Dharamshala offers a unique confluence of Indian mountain culture, Tibetan Buddhism, and an international traveller community. The city has the highest-altitude cricket stadium in the world, a thriving cafe culture, and the famous Triund trek literally starting from its upper neighbourhoods.
